Achille “Sy”, “Ike” Sarino Oliverio
April 29, 1933 ~ May 27, 2015
Sy was born in Serra Pedace, Cosenza, Italy. In 1947, when he was 14 years old he immigrated to America with his family. He passed away peacefully on May 27, at Peace Health of SWW with family by his side and soothing sounds of Sinatra playing as a fitting tribute.
He served in the Air Force and later earned his degree to become an electrical engineer. Any electronic gadgetry was an amusement for Sy, he had many hobbies including; fishing, cooking up new recipes, woodworking, hydroponics, playing cards, and having coffee with his friends at Larry’s Diner. His love for family was immeasurable and family came first-no matter what!
Anyone who met Sy instantly became drawn to him due to his lively personality and loving nature. He was a father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grand father, uncle, great uncle, and friend. Lastly, he was a devoted son to Marietta and Eugenio. He served as the primary caretaker for his mother for over 35 years putting her needs well before his own. She taught him the old world style of Italian home cooking, and he lovingly passed that tradition down to his own family. He will certainly be missed by all, but not forgotten.
He is survived by; his children Kelly Weber, John, Anthony and Mark Oliverio, Grandchildren Matthew Simon, Shelby Nerison, Amy and Angela Oliverio, Katelyn Turner, Anthony Oliverio, Andretti and Enzo Oliverio, Great grandchildren Riley Roberge and Oliver Turner, Nephews Carlo, Don and Larry DeMarco, Great Nephews Bobby and Christopher DeMarco, Anthony, Mike, Drew and Josh DeMarco and Great Niece Danielle DeMarco.
A family service will be held at Wilhelm Portland memorial.
