Betty Lou Zink

November 29, 1930 — May 8, 2013

Betty Lou Zink was born in Sioux City, Iowa to Eunice and Delbert Blagg, third of five children. Betty and her family moved to the Sellwood area when she was a young child. Betty met her husband Bob at Oaks Park Roller Rink. She was 13 years old when they met and their dates consisted of limo rides with her mother as their chaperone. Betty worked sporadically in the family businesses and worked several years for Blue Cross Blue Shield at the time medicare was implemented. Betty was a familiar parent volunteer in the schools Dana attended. They enjoyed many years of camping and motor homing with family and friends. They drove the Alcan Highway with friends for a 6 week motor home adventure. Travel took them to Hawaii, Mexico, Europe and Asia with her daughter. Betty and Bob enjoyed a home in Cannon Beach and later property on the Grande Ronde River where family and friends gathered for large campouts and the kids enjoyed “skippers lagoon”. In recent years they enjoyed jaunts down to Spirit Mountain Casino or Canyonville. Betty was active in a Bunco group for many years, was a Woman of the Year for the Mt. Hood Chapter of American Business Women’s Assn. and served as Senior Regent and other offices of the Moose Lodge for many years. Betty loved to entertain and was known for the generous food she prepared for any occasion. Friends and family enjoyed her infectious laughter, lively stories and generous heart. When Betty and Bob celebrated their 50th anniversary they renewed their wedding vows with the same Best man and Maid of Honor they had in 1949. Betty slipped away after a lengthy struggle with her husband of 64 years by her side. She is survived by her daughter Dana (Steve) and granddaughter’s Sammie and Megan.
