Bonniejean Althea (Griffith) Wimsatt was born on June 2, 1921 in Milwaukie, Oregon, later moving to the Sellwood area where she resided until relocating to Damascus, Oregon in 1960. During her childhood years she enjoyed the sport of roller skating, spending time at Oaks Park Skating Rink where she competed in skating events; regaling her family with skating stories and her memories of the Wurlitzer organ that played as she skated. Bonniejean loved her music and surrounded herself with the sounds of the big bands ringing through her house. She also reveled in her Scottish heritage, enjoying the illustrious music of the bagpipes. She loved life and upon her move to Lake Oswego in 2007, she thoroughly embraced the home her daughter, Cheryl and son-in law David made for her. She was a Christian lady who loved God and her church - she was a member of Triumphant King Lutheran Church, Lake Oswego where she made many good friends and was, herself, truly loved. She lived every day to its fullest and died peacefully in her home on June 20. Her legacy lives on through her children, Cheryl (David), Kathryn (John), grandchildren, Eric (Kathy Ann), Brandon and new great granddaughter, Avery.
A memorial service will be held at Triumphant King Lutheran Church on Friday, June 28 @ 3:00 pm.
Donations can be made to Triumphant King Lutheran Church in Bonniejean's name.
