Carmella Stanley passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2019, at the Luminita Garcia Foster Care Facility at 12785 SW Summit Ridge Street, Tigard, Oregon. A service and burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 31, 2019, at Wilhelm’s Portland Memorial Funeral Home, 6705 SE 14th Avenue, Portland, Oregon. Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Carmella was born in Yamhill, Oregon to Michael & Consetta DePaola and was raised and educated in the Yamhill, Oregon area. In 1942, Carmella married Frank Wiser, son of Ralph and Catherine (Peterson) Wiser. To this union, four children were born. She later divorced and married Ed Harvey. Her last marriage was to Richard Stanley where they resided in Lake Oswego and Tigard, Oregon and in Yuma, Arizona during the winter months.
Carmella was known for her good cooking, a trait she inherited from her mother Consetta "Grandma" DePaola. Some of her meals included spaghetti and meatballs, cream of tuna over waffles and hot fudge pudding cake. She loved visiting and enjoyed her children and grandchildren. One of her proudest accomplishments was becoming a great grandmother. Her husband, Dick, loved to cook and entertain family members. Special memories include family potlucks and dinners where Dick baked large turkeys or made grilled salmon on the barbeque. Some of the places Carmella traveled to included Hawaii, Italy, Switzerland, Alaska, and Quebec, Canada. She also vacationed in Yuma, Arizona with her husband, Dick, for many years until his death in November, 2011.
Carmella is survived by three sons, Michael (Sonja) Wiser, Vancouver, Washington; Paul (Linda, ex spouse) Wiser, Puerto Morelos, Mexico; Douglas (Lori, deceased) Wiser, Happy Valley, Oregon; one daughter, Cathryn (Dennis) Strutz, Yamhill, Oregon; six grandchildren, Peter (Olga) Thomas, Tacoma, Washington; Christopher (Glenda) Wiser, Priest River, Idaho; Zachary (Amy) Wiser; Portland, Oregon; Joe (Lindsay) Wiser, Seattle, Washington; Jake Wiser, Portland, Oregon; Mary Anne Wiser, Portland, Oregon; Angela (Branden) Hansen, Whidbey Island, Washington; and six great granchildren, Andrew Wiser, Priest River, Idaho; Abigail & Sophia Thomas, Tacoma, Washington; and Emery, Reese & Caton Wiser, Seattle, Washington; and one brother, Peter DePaola, Portland, Oregon.
She is also survived by three stepchildren, Pam (Rick) Wilson, Molalla, Oregon; Sherry (Ray) Howell, Lake Oswego, Oregon; and Debra Rifkin (Ed Tarbell), West Linn, Oregon; eight grandchildren, Jill (Mike) Brown, Oregon City, Oregon; Christine (Erik) Chorazy, Scotts Mills, Oregon; Marcie Howell, Tualatin, Oregon; Kelsie (Shawn) McKenzie, Tualatin, Oregon; Grace Howell, Lake Oswego, Oregon; Rian Rifkin, Los Angeles, California; Austin Rifkin,. Chicago, Illinois; and Miles Rifkin, Los Angeles, California; and four great grandchildren, Jocelyn and Logan Brown, Scotts Mills, Oregon; Zachariah McKenzie, Tualatin, Oregon; and Mitchell and Alison Brown, Oregon City, Oregon.
Carmella was preceded in death by her parents, Michael & Consetta DePaola; her first husband, Frank Wiser in September, 2005; and late husband, Richard Stanley in November, 2011.
