Caroline Sue Bailey

Caroline Sue Bailey, age 80 of Gladstone passed away Dec.28, 2017 in Oregon City. Her family was with her at the time of her passing. Caroline was born Feb.18, 1937 in Portland to Dorothy & Edward Boyer. She graduated from Franklin High school and Oregon State University with honors. She married Stephen Bailey of Portland in 1958. Caroline taught second grade at Kelloge School for a short time, then devoted herself to raising a family and volunteering in her community. She was an active member of the Lady Lions, St. Stephen Lutheran church, Gladstone PTA and Chi Omega Sorority. Caroline served over 40 years at the Gladstone Senior Center, Loaves & Fishes and Meals on Wheels. Caroline loved to attend athletic events, supporting programs at Gladstone, Canby and Bend High School, Portland State, University of Oregon and the Portland Trailblazers. Her love was the Portland Trailblazers. Caroline loved her family, she enjoyed traveling with them and attending their sporting and other important events. Caroline was an avid bowler, bowling for over 50 years. She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Vaught and husband Mike Vaught of Canby, their daughter Kerry Nugent and husband Jason Nugent daughter Denise Todhunter and husband Gary Todhunter. Daughter Sandi Beutler and husband Keith Beutler of Bend, their daughter Maryn Beutler and son Chance Beutler. Caroline had two great grand children Bailey Nugent and Gary Todhunter the 4th. It has been suggested that those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Caroline's memory please direct them to the St. Stephen College Scholarship fund at St. Stephen Lutheran Church.
