Dale Cossette

April 29, 1918 — July 4, 2015

Dale Cossette was born April 29, 1918 in Westhope, ND. He died peacefully at home surrounded by family on the 4th of July. Dale was one of four children born to Fred and Frances Cossette and was the last surviving member of his family. He married Mabel Overlie on August 16, 1941. They spent over 73 years together as husband and wife. Dale spent most of his childhood in Antler, ND where he met his wife in 1941, when she arrived to take a teaching job. He worked the family farm until the couple moved to Portland after WWII. Dale worked in the tractor trailer business for 25 years and sold real estate until his retirement in 1980. Dale was a quiet man so when he spoke his family listened. He was a devoted husband and father with a strong work ethic and a great sense of humor. Always energetic, Dale loved nothing better than deep-sea fishing on the Pacific with friends and family and taking Mabel to Saturday night dances – sometimes both on the same Saturday. Dale was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mabel, on November 12, 2014. He is survived by his children, Gary Cossette and Carmen Noxon, daughter-in-law Sharron; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A memorial service to celebrate Dale’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Wilhelm’s Portland Memorial Chapel, 6705 SE 14th Ave., Portland, OR. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest a donation to the Adventist Health Hospice, 5835 NE 122nd Ave., Suite 135, Portland, OR 97230. Service Information
