David peacefully passed away June 12, 2015, at the age of 95. He was born Nov. 28, 1919, in Portland, to Paul and Julia Gende and grew up in Milwaukie. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during WWII in the South Pacific. He lived in Portland most of his life and was an electrician, then an electrical inspector for the City of Portland for over 30 years. He also taught electrical apprenticeship classes for many years.
Dave was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Betty (Ly- ons); and son, Mark. He is survived by his children, Judy Bradley, David Jr. (Kathy), Donna Randall (Dave), Patricia Becker (Rahn) and John (Denise); and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He enjoyed and was an active member of St. Agatha Catholic Church, Early Ford V-8 Club and IBEW Local 48.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2015, at St. Agatha Catholic Church, 1430 S.E. Nehalem St., Portland, with a rosary before the service at 10:30 a.m. A reception will be held following the service in the parish hall.
