Donald Leroy Johnson

January 4, 1926 — December 12, 2013

DONALD LEROY JOHNSON January 4, 1926 - December 12, 2013 Dad was a big guy, a strong man, a blue-eyed blonde, tall and handsome. A local boy, he attended James John, Roosevelt High School and the St. John’s Christian Church. During WWII he served in the Navy as a radioman on a beautiful island in the Pacific. The end of the war brought marriage to Gladys in ‘46, college (U of O graduate in ‘53), a new house and six kids (Linda, Judy, Tom, Jan, Phil, Lisa). He had a lifelong love for cars (owned his own car lot) but eventually became a milkman. Retiring at 56 he kept busy with the daily routines of life. He was just shy of his 88th birthday. As it is, it now appears, with the proper medication and the right placement Dad would still be with us. But, even with that he was still the longest living member of his side of the family. He will be forever remembered for his signature “grip” and his assigned nicknames for all. He now resides in a happier place with those who went before. Viewing at Wilhelm’s on Sun., 9-4, Dec. 29. Graveside service at 1:00, Mon., Dec. 30, Columbia Pioneer Cemetery (99th and Sandy). All are welcome. Service Information
