Don was born to parents Robert Propeck and Dorothy (Dot) White on June 29, 1948 in Portland, OR. He grew up with one older sister and three younger brothers, and attended Benson Tech High School. He joined the United States Marine Corps at 18, and survived his tour in Vietnam. After 11 faithful years in the Corps, he retired to continue his military career in the US Army Reserve. In his civilian life, he worked for Overhead Door Company until his retirement.
Don is survived by his two daughter, Elizabeth (Betty) Propeck and Donna Propeck, and his grandson Jelani Ray Ashley.
The cremation took place July 6, 2016, and the memorial service is planned in June of 2017, with Honor Guard. Friends and Family are invited to attend the memorial service and interment at Wilhelm’s Portland Memorial Mausoleum which will be held one year from his last birthday, on Thursday, June 29th, 2017. The family is grateful for the condolences, and requests that in lieu of flowers donations of time or money be made to the Returning Veterans Project, in Portand OR, in his name.
