March 16, 1922 — September 22, 2015

Doris Anneta Kelly was born on March 16, 1922, and died peacefully in her sleep on September 22, 2015 in Portland. Doris was born in Heimdal, North Dakota to Peter and Ida Schroeder. She moved to Portland with her parents and 6 of her siblings at age 14. She attended and Graduated from Jefferson High School. Doris met Leon Emil (Jimmy) Hanset and was married at age 19. Doris and "Jimmy" had 3 children, Joann, Patty and Toni. They lived in a Ne Portland home that was built by the family, and this is where they raised their children. Jimmy was in the Navy and at one point was stationed at Whidbey Island where they lived for a short time. Jimmy worked at the family’s business, "The Hanset Brothers Brooms". Jimmy passed away at the age of 28 on May 2, 1948 in a car accident. Doris later married William Kelly (Bill), and they had a son, Michael. He raised Joann, Patty, Toni and Mike. Bill was a loving father and often referred to the kids as his boys (Jo, Pat, Toni and Mike) they all grew up in the family home. Bill had many traits from singing on the radio, a Logger and a boilermaker. Doris and Bill were married approximately 40 years before he passed away on February 11, 1990. Doris and Bill have 9 grandchildren, David, Steve, Kendal, Angela, Melanie, Carly, Tina, Peter and Jamie, and 14 great grandchildren Caleb, Chloe, Charlie, Desiree, Ryan, Laquesha, Joscelyn, Mckenna, Hailey, Nicholas, Jimmie III, Anna, Kimberly and Guy Jr. Doris loved to spend time with her family and loved to have family gatherings at her home. She was not only loved by her close family, but also by her neighbors, and friends of her grandchildren. She often went fishing and hunting just to be with Bill. However, she really did enjoy fishing. She thoroughly enjoyed camping with the family. Many times, her kids and her grandkids would pack up and take off for a week at a time just to go camping. She always made sure to pack Miniture chocolates for the grandkids for a surprise treat. Doris, also liked to crochet, play yatzee, and taught all of her great grandkids how to play other types of card games, and she always won. She loved to sit on her porch swing, sew, and go for walks up and down the street. Doris lived to the age of 93. She lived a full and happy life and was loving and loved by all. Service Information
