Doris Mae Swensen

Doris passed away peacefully on the evening of May 3, 2017. She will be greatly missed. Doris was born to Frank and Rose Celorie in Portland, OR. There she attended St. Agatha’s grade school and in 1948, she graduated from St. Mary’s Academy where she was remembered as “Daring but Darling.” In 1950, also at St. Agatha’s Catholic Church, Doris married Carl Swensen, thus starting her own family and building their dream toward a “mountain house.” Doris was an active parishioner at Holy Family church in Portland and at St. John in the Woods church in Welches, Oregon. Her family, Catholic faith, and Italian heritage guided her throughout her life. Doris was a strong woman of her time and a lady to the very end. Doris is predeceased by her husband Carl and survived by her four children, three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Open viewing will be May 11,2017 from 9a.m. to 4p.m.at Wilhelm Portland Memorial, 6705 SE 14th Avenue, Portland. On Friday May 12,2017 the recitation of the Rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Both will be held at Saint Agatha’s Catholic Church 1430 SE Nehalem Street, Portland Service Information
