Edward (Don) Dorman Bowe, Jr. was born in Tigard, Oregon. He had 7 brothers and sisters, all of whom predeceased him. He was married to Doris from March 2, 1946 until her passing on July 28, 2011. They lived in their home in Milwaukie, where they raised their two daughters, Cindy and Deb.
Don spent his career in the trucking industry as a diesel mechanic. He worked for White Motor Company until his retirement in September of 1984. He enjoyed tinkering with diesel engines in his retirement by rebuilding older Volkswagen Rabbit Diesel vehicles.
Don and his family spent many weekends camping at Detroit Reservoir. His favorite activities included fishing, boating, and water skiing with daughters Cindy and Deb. He wouldn’t hesitate to jump in and take his turn on the skis.
As a couple, Don and Doris enjoyed travelling by bus to the Model T Truck Stop and Casino in Nevada. They loved taking trips in their motor home, including a 5 week trip through Canada and Alaska driving the full length of the Alcan Highway. They also enjoyed multiple trips each year to the John Day area for hunting and fishing with the “Gregory Clan”.
Together, Don and Doris involved themselves in several community service activities. They were active at the Milwaukie Center for over 20 years delivering meals to homebound seniors for the Meals on Wheels program. Don was President of the Milwaukie Community Club for several years.
Don is survived by his daughters Cindy Sheppard (Dan) and Deb Nuding (Ray), and granddaughters Emily and Julie.
