Evelyn K. Perryman passed away April 1, 2014, hours after celebrating her 100th birthday! She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. She was born March 31,1914, in Dollar's Corner, Wash., to John Edward Mattox and Ruth F. VanDeLinder. Evelyn graduated from Commerce High School in Portland. She married George Alfred Derry and worked as a secretary. During WWII, she volunteered where needed, including driving for the American Red Cross. When her daughter, Judy Ann, died at age 7 from polio, Evelyn channeled her grief into helping others that had been afflicted with the disease. Her son, Michael, passed away at 4 months and again, Evelyn endured the death of a child by volunteering. She later had two sons, George Leslie and Thomas John Derry. Her husband, George, passed away in 1976 and Evelyn married Charles Duane Perryman in 1986. She is survived by her sons, George and Tom; daughter-in-law, Connie; grandchildren, Joshua and Caity; brother, Johnny Mattox (Alice); and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at Wilhelm's Portland Memorial Chapel, 6705 S.E. 14th Ave. Service Information
