George William Blinco, 91, Born October 31,1921- August 21, 2013. George was born to Harry and Fannie Blinco on Halloween in 1921. He spent most of his life in Portland.
He was active as a youth in 4H and Boy Scouts, rising to an Eagle Scout. He served as a Marine in WWII, graduated from OSU where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity, and a lifetime member of the OSU Alumni Association. George loved hiking, climbing and the outdoors. He was a past president and lifetime member of The Trails Club of Oregon.
He worked as an accountant handling payroll for American Mail Line and later retired from Crown Zellerbach.
He’s preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Helen, in 1995, and a granddaughter, Kimberly, in 2007. He’s survived by three daughters, Linda Tenney (Ed), Cheryl DeBauw (Randy) and Nancy Griffin (Joel), three granddaughters, Jennifer, McKenzie and Madeline, brother, Don, and sister, Jane Enevoldsen.
George’s girls would like to thank those at Raleighwood Senior Care Center in Beaverton for being a part of their family for the last five years. We can’t thank them enough for the wonderful care dad received while living there.
A private entombment will take place at Wilhelm’s Portland Memorial. Service will be on Wednesday 9/4/2013 at 1:00 pm at Multnomah Presbyterian Church, 7555 SW 45th Ave, Portland, Oregon 97219.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Maritime Museum in Astoria, Providence Hospice or The Trails Club of Oregon.
