George Raymond Yeomans

George Raymond Yeomans known as Ray or Pops, died peacefully at his care home in West Linn. Ray was born June 30, 1924 in Willamette, Oregon, and was raised in West Linn. He joined the Army June 23, 1943, and was a veteran of World War II, with the 13th Division Airborne Paratroopers. He was honorably discharged on February 3, 1946. After the war, he married Lela Schäuble, March 10 1946. Sadly Lela passed in 2010 They resided in West Linn for over 60 years. While there, they had two sons, Thomas and Terry, known as Bro and Yeo Ray worked for Clackamas County in vehicle maintenance and was the assistant shop foreman. He later moved to the City of West Linn as their Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor, until his retirement at the age of 65. He loved working on vehicles. There wasn’t an engine he couldn’t rebuild or fix. He would generously work on his friend’s cars after hours. He was also involved in Civil Defense and was a West Linn volunteer fire fighter. He loved his jeeps and gardening. He had a huge garden next to his shop, where he grew fruits, vegetables and berries.He often shared his produce with his neighbors. He loved fishing, hunting and camping. He is survived by his sons, Tom and Terry, daughter in law Kathie, grandkids; Tom, Erica, Stephanie, Mike, Josh, Wyatt, and great granddaughter Leah.
