Gerald K. Major

Gerald (Jerry) Major 89, passed away Oct. 31st at home, in his sleep. Gerald was born May 22, 1929 in Rapid City S.D. The family resided in Lead S.D. He was the youngest of 3 siblings. They moved to Oregon in the early 40’s. Jerry graduated from Franklin in 1947. He served 2 years active Army and 2 years Air Force reserve. In 1951 he married Oradell née Seiffert who he met at St. Mark’s Lutheran church. A charismatic jack of all trades, he was a barber, owned 3 hair salons and retired in 1987 as an Officer from the Bank of California. Jerry and Oradell celebrated 60 years of marriage but Oradell passed in April 2012. Jerry suffered from heart failure, lung cancer, a-fib and dementia. He is survived by 2 daughters, 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Private interment is at Hillsboro Pioneer Cemetery.
