Ila I. Gettel

June 19, 1929 — July 24, 2013

Ila I. Gettel was born June 19, 1929 to Effie and William Whitlow in Newberg, Oregon. Ila married Duane Noteboom in 1949 and they had two daughters Karen and Yvonne. They later divorced. In 1963 Ila married Ernest (Ernie) Gettel. Ila was known as the ultimate entertainer, loving mother, devoted grandmother to Kirstin Hardy (Scott), Dr. Steven Sogge (Jennifer) and Jason Ellison (Haley). Our mother had eight cherished great grandchildren: Payton Ellison, Jackson Hardy, Hudson Hardy, Derrick Sogge, Hugh Hardy, Elin Sogge, Kate Hardy and Austin Ellison. She is survived by her sister, Joan Dallas and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved very much. Ila was predeceased by her parents Effie and William Whitlow, her husband Ernie Gettel and her sister Christine Smith. If there was a definition for a classy woman, Ila’s name would be at the top of the list. Viewing will take place at Wilhelm’s Portland Memorial on Tuesday, July 30th from 1-4pm. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 31st at 11 am at Milwaukie Lutheran Church with reception to follow. Donation may be made to the Milwaukie Lutheran Church Endowment Fund in Ila Gettel's honor. Service Information
