John Harold Flatness

Maj. JOHN HAROLD FLATNESS USAF RET. John H. Flatness passed from this life on 24 Mar 2019 in Portland, Ore. He was born 24 Jul 1922 in Elbow Lake Minn. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served as a pilot in the South Pacific in WW2. After the war he enlisted in the USAF and eventually was promoted back to flying status flying cargo aircraft. He flew C-124 aircraft to several Operation Deep Freeze deployments. John was married to Vera Galloway Flatness for 69 years. John was predeceased by his parents, his wife Vera, his sister Kathryn Bosshardt, and his grandson John B. He is survived by his sons Randy and John D. His Granddaughter, Andrea Kollmer and great-grandchildren Rebekka and Steven Kollmer.
