Joseph V. Gieber

A memorial mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2012 in Holy Cross Catholic Church in Portland for Joseph V. Gieber, who died of cancer June 15, 2012. Whitie was born Mar 10, 1924 in Wamego, Ks., he served in the Army Air Corps in New Guinea during WWII and retired as a long haul trucker. He was an outstanding athlete both during and after his school years, an avid golfer, fisherman, and Hamm's beer drinker. Survivors include his sons Robert and Edward Rector, sisters Dorine Hynes and Elizabeth Grosse, grandchildren Terri Stadtherr, Steven, Bret and Joseph Rector, Cinde Carrigan, nephews Kevin and Korey Grosse and several great grandchildren.
