Lauris Ann London Fleming

April 29, 1942 — February 9, 2016

SERVICES PENDING IN VERO BEACH, FLORIDA & WILLIAMSTOWN, MASSACHUSETTS IN THE SUMMER OF 2016 ---- DATES AND DETAILS TO FOLLOW Lauris Ann Treadway London Fleming (April 29, 1942 – February 9, 2016) Lauris passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in her sleep in her new apartment near her daughter’s home in Portland, Oregon. Lauris was born in Hanover, New Hampshire to Richard Fowle Treadway and Martha Cecil (Chamberlin) Treadway. Lauris is survived by her brothers David Treadway of Weston, Massachusetts and Jim Treadway of Napa, California, as well as her daughter Jamin, son-in-law Ryan and granddaughters, Angelina and Bowden, nieces Heather and Jamie, and nephews Michael, Sam and Sean. Lauris was preceded in death by her brother Jonathan Treadway of Vero Beach, Florida. Lauris lived many years in Ardmore, Pennsylvania where she provided a stable home to her daughter Jamin, despite more than her share of life’s struggles, living in the same house from when Jamin was two until 2014 when Lauris moved to Portland, Oregon to be near her daughter. Lauris’ parents owned and operated the Treadway Inns chain of hotels in New England when she was growing up, and she lived in Sturbridge and Rockport, Massachusetts, as well as the Beacon Hill neighborhood in Boston. Her family was active and outgoing, physically and socially. Lauris was named after her paternal grandfather, Lauris Treadway. She attended Windsor School, Middlebury College, School of the Museum of Fine Arts – Boston, and Columbia University where she received her B.S. and R.N. degree and made many dear, life-long friends. Lauris was a nurse for many years until her mental illness made it difficult for her to work. She was also an incredible poet, musician, artist, and stand up comic. Lauris was a kind and loving spirit, full of creativity and joy. She was also a spitfire! She brought love, light, and laughter to those who knew her. She was the patron saint of (everyone’s!) emotions and of outcasts. She always said, “Everything is magic.” Now she is magic. She is peace, love, and joy. She is everywhere, and there is peace in her valley. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in her name to NAMI: National Alliance on Mental Illness.
