Leonora Naomi Engel

Leonora Naomi (Messerli) Klebaum-Engel was born in Edgerton, Ohio January 18, 1919 to Frieda (Miller)Messerli and Reverend H.C. Messerli. She moved to Kennewick, Washington where she lived until she was 5 years old. She then moved to Albany, Oregon until she was 17. During this move her mother became ill and died. The family then moved to Sandy, Oregon where she graduated from Sandy High School in 1938. Leonora entered the work force as a restaurant cashier in Portland, Oregon. She remained in the food industry until she retired in 1984. While in Portland she met and married Arthur Klebaum in 1942. Arthur Klebaum died in 1967. In 1989 she married Edwin Engel who passed away in the year 2000. Throughout her life Leonora had a love of History and Travel. She was a voracious reader and was considered by some as an expert on the Civil War Era. She peacefully left this earth at Monterey Court Memory Care Center in Happy Valley, Oregon after a 7 year battle with Dementia on December 15, 2015. Leonora is survived by her brother Victor Messerli of Salinas, California; her daughter Marrilyn (Klebaum) Faughn of Lexington, Kentucky and her son Jonathan Klebaum of Oregon City, Oregon; her Step-Daughter Kathleen (Engel) Woods of North Mankato, Minnesota; 4 Grandchildren, Kirk Klebaum of Oregon City, Matthew (Klebaum)Ryan of Portland, Oregon, Catherine (Faughn) Lowe and J'Lizabeth Faughn both of Lexington, Kentucky. 7 Great Grandchildren.
