She met her husband, Calvin Koch of 65 years in Chicago the summer of 1949. She was spending the summer with her Aunt and Uncle and Cal was a dining car cook for the Union Pacific Railroad. He was on the Portland to Chicago run and stayed with his cousins when he was in town. After being married they headed to Oregon to start their new life. They had three children, seven grandchildren their spouses and thirteen great grandchildren. Their children are Zelda (Ken) Anderson, Ann Sigler and Calvin D. Koch. Her husband Calvin K. preceded her death on January 17, 2015.
Margie and Cal loved traveling in their motor coach when they retired. They would head south the first of October. In December they put the coach in storage at one of the campgrounds and head home for Christmas and stay long enough to get their taxes done; then head south again. They returned home in the spring. They loved camping with family and friends. They enjoyed camping until Cal had open heart surgery in October of 2006.
Margie was a member of the Beaverton First United Methodist Church. She was an active member when her family was young. She worked for the Beaverton School district for 32 years in the Food Service program. Many will remember her as Mrs. Koch, the cook.
