Marlene Ellen Macknair

July 26, 1932 — May 16, 2014

Marlene Ellen Mack Nair, 81, of Portland, passed away on May 16,2014 @ the Martha & Mary Home following a short battle with cancer. She was born at Wilcox Memorial Hospital in Portland on July 26, 1932 to the late Evelyn and Edward Kaufman. Marlene graduated from Lincoln High School in 1950. She was raised in Portland where she met her future husband. She married Grant E. Mack Nair on Dec. 3, 1955. Marlene and Grant enjoyed bowling and golf together. Marlene retired from Safeco Insurance Company in 1995 and begin hostessing at Country Bill's Restaurant on SE Woodstock. Marlene was an active member of All Saints Episcopal Church. She gave graciously of her time to volunteer at the church thrift shop, the Mustard Seed, and with their dental van outreach program. Marlene was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years and her brother, Robert of Salt Lake City, Utah. She is survived by her brother Bill Kaufman (Rica) and six nieces and nephews. At her request, no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Martha & Mary Ministries @ 4303 SE Henderson, Portland, OR 97206 or All Saints Episcopal Church @ allsaintspdx.org. Viewing will be held Wednesday, May 28,2014 from 9:00 - 4:00 @ Wilhelm's Portland Memorial Funeral Home. Service Information
