Marvin J. Trachta

Marvin Joseph Trachta passed peacefully from his Earthly home on July 22 2016 surrounded by loving family and friends. Born March 11 1938 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Lumir and Bessie Trachta he graduated from Wilson High School in 1956 and briefly attended Coe College. During High School he was on the track team and that fostered his lifelong love of running. He served in the Army Reserves. Later he moved to California and graduated with BS from then California State College and began his career in the investment business working with Stephens Moore & Co. and Security Pacific National Bank. In the 1970’s that career brought him to Portland with First Interstate Bank and then The Bank of California where he held the title of Vice President and Senior Investment Manager. He married Helen Ivaska in 1979 and their son Joseph Adam Trachta was born November 1980. In December 1986 he met Dina and a long and happy marriage followed. In that marriage he gained two daughters, Julie and Debbie. He was a wonderful husband, Dad, Stepdad, Uncle, brother and Grandad. Loved by all his family and that wonderful smile well received amongst friends. He retired from Union Bank in September 2004 and moved up to Welches. Marv endured his illness with strength and grace. He fought valiantly and came back from many hospital stays and was able to enjoy trips, soccer games, bridge and happy times with family and friends. He never was able to run again and that broke his heart. The family is deeply appreciative of the medical professionals that cared for Marv and especially for the kindness of the Maryville staff during the last weeks. Marv is preceded in death by his parents and survived by his wife Dina, son Joe, step daughters Julie (Buckley) and Debbie (Convery), grandchildren Jake, PJ and Hope and many more nieces, nephews and extended family. His life will be celebrated with a service on Friday July 29th at Wilhelms 6705 SE 14th at 2pm. Please no flowers due to allergy concerns.
