Naomi D. Adams

Naomi (Damazo) Adams, was born February 1, 1928 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, 7th of 10 children born to Frank Damazo Sr. and Christine (Cotter) Damazo. She died Saturday, January 23, 2016, aged 87, in Portland, Oregon. Her childhood was in New Bedford. She left home for South Lancaster, MA, to attend Brookside Academy, and Atlantic Union College, where she met student Carson Adams of St. Johns, Newfoundland. (He had studied at Oshawa Missionary College in Oshawa, Canada, began at A.U.C. in 1942-43, joined the military 1944, and became a U.S. citizen in 1945 while in Britain. He returned to A.U.C. in 1946.) They married August 22, 1947. Their children are Melvin John Adams, George Edward Adams, and Joyce Marie (Adams) Black. Work led to living in several states: Tennessee, Arkansas, Indiana, Maryland and California. Her final 7 years were spent in Portland, Oregon, near her children. Her travels included Europe, Mexico, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, China, and nearly every U.S. state. She was trained as an accountant, and held multiple jobs: literature evangelist, medical practice office manager, treasury department worker at Review and Herald Publishing, bank teller and loan officer. She was a lifelong member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, and enjoyed participating in many ways, such as singing solos and duets. Burial will be beside her husband, who preceded her in death on September 22, 1987, in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frederick, Maryland. Survived by children Melvin John Adams, George Edward Adams, Joyce Marie (Adams) Black, by grandchildren Scott Christopher Adams, Eric Michael Adams, Ty Adams Mitchell, and by great-grandchildren Bemnet Tsega Adams, Hundaol Bekele Adams, and Corbin Gabriel Adams.
