Norman A. Sandberg passed away on August 17, 2015 from complications related to renal failure. Norman was born on December 27, 1932 to Winnie and Arthur Sandberg in Aberdeen, Washington. After graduation from Montesano High School, he attended the University of Puget Sound. It was while at home in Montesano for the summer that he met the love of his life, Patricia Quiett. They were wed on September 8, 1956 after Normans return from serving four years in the Air Force. They made their home in Cedar Hills and Aloha, Oregon where they raised three children. Norman worked for the Glidden Company as a chemist for 30 years, retiring in 1992.
Upon retirement Norm and Pat downsized their home after 37 years, moving to Hillsboro, Oregon. They enjoyed their condo life allowing them to simply lock the door and make many fabulous trips throughout Europe and the United States. Norm was an active member of the Portland Bonsai Society, the Willamette Sailing Club, and their church of 59 years, Cedar Hills United Church of Christ. He enjoyed beach trips with the family, photography, bird watching, wine making with dear friends, and quiet moments with Pat.
Norman is survived by his wife, Patricia; brother, Stuart; sister, Winnifred; two sons, Chris (Bea), Jeff (Linda); daughter, Karin (Dana); seven grandchildren, Ben, Jim, Betsy, Emily, Kevin, Matthew, and Megan; three great grandchildren, Jonah, Max, and Craig Norman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 2 PM at the Cedar Hills United Church of Christ, 11695 S.W. Park Way, Portland, OR.
