Rod Moore, Beaverton First Citizen, Rotary President, Reser’s Fine Foods Board Member and OSU Foundation member passed on Wednesday after a 17 year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Portland Golf Club on July 1st at 11 AM. Orange and black attire is optional, no denim please.
Rod was born in Banks Oregon and lived most of his life in the Beaverton area. After graduation from Gresham High, Moore followed his brothers Don and Bill to Oregon State where he pledged Phi Kappa Psi. After graduation, he served in Korea in the US Air Force as a First Lt. He returned to marry Jean Gould of Eastmoreland at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Portland. Rod and Jean soon had three children, Greg, Jim and Laurie.
Rod’s love for the outdoors and athletics meant lots of family ski trips, rafting, tennis games and spring vacations to southern California. Rod joined the Multnomah Athletic Club in 1963 and served as Treasurer in 1989. He was also a member of the Arlington Club and President of Beaverton Rotary
Professionally Rod was a financial advisor to many successful families. One of his clients nicknamed him “the Wizard of Wall Street” and the name stuck. He was excited to start Rippey, Inskeep, Hess & McFaul, which evolved to Adams, Hess, Moore and Co. With offices in Eugene, Salem, Portland and LaGrande that firm served successful Oregonians for more than 3 decades before industry changes inspired a merger. It was a testimony to Rod’s value of family that all three of his children worked in his business for many years.
He served 10 years on the Beaverton School Board, includingtwo terms as chairman. He followed that with 5 years on the Oregon State School Boards Assn. and the Western Regional School Boards Assn. where he served as president as well. His commitment to education continued with many years of service to the OSU Foundation.
Rod was known for his optimism and encouragement. Despite 17 years battling Parkinson’s Disease he never complained. His family rejoices that he has been freed from Parkinson’s and is now celebrating with Jesus.Charitable donations may be made to:
