Susan Denise Davey German was born in Omaha, Nebraska and moved to Portland with her family in 1962. Susan (Susie, Sue, Mom, Gramma) graduated from Washington High School and then attended Cosmetology Careers Unlimited where she was licensed as a Barber/Hairdresser.
Susie loved being with people, talking, laughing, having fun. Her personality was ideal for her work as a hairdresser, and she gave a darn good haircut too. She especially loved the warmer months when she could pursue her favorite activities: long camping trips by the river with family and friends, enjoying campfires, water activities, her new kayak; she loved planting and growing her flowers; the holidays, and decorating things any time, just for fun; she loved being with her parents, her daughters, grandchildren, and her little dog Lucy. She loved that ever-present iPhone for keeping in close contact with everyone.
After a four-month battle with lung cancer and an eleven-day vigil by loving family and friends, Susan passed away at Providence Hospital in Portland.
She is survived by her parents, Gene and Ethel(Bay) Davey; daughters Shelby German and Wendy Tess; her three grandchildren (Wendy's children) Alexis, Ava, and Gavin; her sister, Christine Davey; and former husband Thomas German.
We'll always love and miss you, Susie. Happy Trails to you, until we meet again.
A Celebration of Susie's Life will be held on Sunday November 1, 2015, from 1:30-4:00pm, at the S.M.I.L.E. Station community center, 8210 SE Tacoma.
