Valerae is survived by her daughter Lynn Thompson and son Kenneth Maynard , grandchildren Craig, Scott, Amy and Megan; great-grandchildren Jordan and Lily Ann. Valerae was born in SE Portland where she lived her entire life. She died there of natural causes. Valerae graduated from Cleveland High school, formally known as Commerce High school. She spent most of her career working at Tektronix from 1959 to 1988 when she retired from Tektronix, she volunteered at various organizations. She then worked at Mt. St Joseph care facility where her mother was a resident. Val (as most people called her) loved the outdoors with camping and fishing. She loved sports as well, bowling, golfing, snow skiing, and her most courageous feat of all, white water rafting. She was a big Portland Trailblazer fan. She was an active member of the Gateway Elk's Club as a treasurer, secretary and a member of the Lodge of Sorrow Committee and various other committees.
