Warren Rex Clark

September 27, 1947 — June 22, 2014

Warren Rex Clark Rex was born September 27, 1947 in Pasadena, California. He attended UCLA receiving a degree in anthropology. He was an active member of the Society for Creative Anachronism taking the name of Tancred de Warenne. While part of the SCA, he held the title of Keeper of the Queen's Peace. Rex was a lover of books, eclectic music, languages and beverages. Indeed, he had an extensive library of books; books on languages, books on beverages and books on books; along with several refrigerators full of beverages. He often remarked that there were only 12 things he didn't know. He was also a talented editor and author. He edited many school papers for his children and loved quizzing them on vocabulary. He authored such famous stories as "The Saga of Sven: Tale of the Christmas Banana" and "The Philosophical Treatise on the Differences Between a Cat and a Rock." He enjoyed taking his children on adventures to performances and festivals of all sorts. Most notably: Gilbert and Sullivan Operettas, The Highland Games, Civil War reenactments, and Renaissance Faires. His children have since carried on these traditions from all their states of residence. Rex was often seen in shorts, loud Hawaiian print shirts, and with bare feet. He loved the ocean and the beach, especially the trips that he took with his wife, Mary. He displayed a robust appetite, particularly when it came to breakfast. He passed away in his home on June 22, 2014. He is survived by his parents Dorothy and Warren, sister Judy, wife Mary, his children Matthew (Laura), Alison and Katharine, and legions of extended family and friends. Service Information
