William Stanley Aulerich

August 28, 1936 — April 23, 2017

William Stanley Aulerich, was a firefighter, custom home builder and private pilot. He passed away after a 17-year battle with various health matters on Sunday, April 23, 2017, with his family by his side. Bill is survived by his wife, Mary; his four children, Gretchen (Gary) Chicoine, David Aulerich, Mark (Kari) Aulerich and Patricia Aulerich; one surviving brother, Dean (Sylvia) Aulerich; seven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Bill was born in Monona, Iowa on August 28, 1936 to Karl and Viola Aulerich. The family moved to Beaverton, Oregon where he attended and graduated from Beaverton High School in 1954. He enlisted in the Naval Reserve at a young age and was honorably discharged for reason to enlist in the United States Army. He served four years in the Army until he was honorably discharged in 1962. He was Married on August 30, 1958 to Mary Schwab and moved to Seattle, Washington where he and Mary had four children. He worked as a Seattle firefighter for 19 years while running 
Aulerich Construction, that developed custom homes in the Northwest. He enjoyed coaching youth hockey, playing golf and had a passion of flying. In 1985, he moved to Mesa, Arizona where he pursued his love of flying by operating Canyon State Air, which was a charter flight service that flew throughout Arizona, the southwest and parts of Mexico. He also enjoyed teaching as a certified flight instructor at Falcon Field in Mesa, Arizona. Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00pm on Wednesday, May 3 at Wilhelm Portland Memorial Funeral Home followed by the burial at Sunset Hills Memorial Park. Service Information
