Bill has been retired for many years, enjoying the time gardening, traveling & woodworking. Throughout his life he had been active in the Boy Scouts, Masonic Originations, Troutdale Historical Society and in his church. Bill was a faithful and devoted church worker throughout his whole life. Bill was preceded in death by his wife ; Louise & one daughter Deborah Jackson-Spotts. He is survived his daughter Virginia Jackson-Glanz & (John), and Son-in-Law David Spotts. Four Grandchildren, Sandra Massie & (Duane), Steven Glanz, Davia Ziglinski & (Jake), Jennifer Etzel & (Eric) and eight Great- Grandchildren. He had a wonderful personality & made friends easily. Everyone knew his name, and even in the last hours of his life, at his bedside, were many who just wanted to say "Good bye". The past 6 ½ years, Bill had moved from Troutdale to the assisted living at Laurelhurst Village where he was involved in each activity and enjoyed meeting new people and interacting with them along with the staff. Below is a prayer that was written by Bill in May 2010. He always had a close understanding of the grace that the Lord gives to us. Prayer is a wonderful Gift and yet we often fail to use it. We let other priorities crowd out our time with our creator. We are thankful for God’s love, God's healing hands, God's spirit and God's comforting Grace. What a blessing God has given us for the opportunity to Pray. Dear God, open our hearts and minds to hear your call. We nurture our relationship with you as we pray: Our Father which art in heaven hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen. A "Celebration of Life" service will he held on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 3:30 pm at the Wilhelm's Portland Memorial Chapel. Service Information
