Obituary William Andrew Martin was born July 8, 1934, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to Carlos and Genevieve (Tucker) Martin. He was named after his maternal grandfather, William Tucker, and his paternal grandfather, Andrew Martin. Bill attended elementary school in Muskogee and in Vanport, Oregon until the Vanport Flood of 1948 destroyed his family's home. After moving to Portland, he attended Jefferson High School, where he participated in football and track, and graduated in 1952. He was a lifelong member of St. Philip the Deacon Episcopal Church. After graduation, Bill enlisted in the Army, where he served as a medic In Okinawa, Japan and Korea from 1953 to1956. He was a Specialist E-4 and was honorably discharged in 1961. In 1954, Bill married Rebecca Caldwell, and was blessed with a daughter, Genevieve. In 1962, he married Sara Johnson, and he was blessed with three more daughters, Rita, Kathy, and Cristy. Bill attended Lewis & Clark College, then worked at Tektronix, UPS, the Veterans Hospital, and Lake Oswego Country Club. He also frequently worked a second, part-time job as a caterer and bartender. Then he returned to school and received a certificate as a Radiologic Technologist in 1978 from Portland Community College. He enjoyed being active in his fraternity, Kappa Alpha Psi, and served a time as Polemarch of his chapter. In 1998, Bill married Ann Landis and his family grew to include another daughter, Laura, and a son, Robert. After working in Radiology at Providence St. Vincent for 25 years, he retired in 1999 and moved to Rockaway Beach, Oregon, to relax and enjoy his favorite sports, fishing and crabbing in his boat, "Desperado." Bill looked forward to his yearly fishing trips to Canada and Alaska and hunting trips to Eastern Oregon with Ted. He enjoyed his time riding his "Harley", and participating in the local Bonsai Society with Ann. They also became Master Gardeners in Tillamook County. Bill will be dearly missed by his wife, his daughters, Genevieve Rounds (Perry), Rita Martin, Kathy Dunn (Coil), Cristy Cabine (Gerald), sister, Pat Walker (James), brother-in-law, Jim Blumenschein, (Lenora), sisters-in-law, Teri King (Coach), Ruth Blumenschein, Carol Blumenschein, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to St. Philip the Deacon Church, Portland, in Bill's name would be appreciated. Service Information
